What is Long Range Planning?
Long Range Planning develops land use policies that guide long-term growth and development within the unincorporated County area. Long Range Planning staff work closely with state agencies and neighboring jurisdictions to ensure that regional planning goals are aligned across San Bernardino County’s extensive geographic area. The team also leads the implementation of the County’s Housing Element, ensuring that development regulations align with the County’s housing production goals and state law.

Prohousing Designation Program
The County of San Bernardino is excited to announce its intent to pursue a Prohousing Designation from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). The Prohousing Designation Program is a state program implemented in 2021 that supports jurisdictions that go above-and-beyond state housing law to help accelerate housing production. Achieving a Prohousing Designation will help the County qualify for housing-related grants. Learn more.
